Mamma mia Review

If you really, really love ABBA’s music, then “Mamma Mia” is a movie you’ll probably enjoy a lot.

It’s based on a Broadway musical with a bunch of ABBA songs, and the cast actually sings them (even though some of them aren’t really known for their singing skills).

The story is pretty simple and not the most important part of the movie.

It’s about a girl named Sophie who lives with her mom Donna on a beautiful Greek island. Sophie is getting married to a guy named Sky, but she doesn’t know who her real dad is.

She finds her mom’s diary and discovers there are three men who could be her dad: Sam, Bill, and Harry. So she invites all three to her wedding, and they all show up.

That’s basically the whole story. But the movie’s real star is Meryl Streep, who plays Donna.

She’s amazing and so much fun to watch. Her singing voice reminded me of Johnny Depp in “Sweeney Todd” because it’s not perfect, but she knows how to make it work.

Streep is a talented actress, and it’s so cool to see her singing and dancing in this movie.

Amanda Seyfried, who plays Sophie, also does a great job.

She has a good voice and holds her own with Streep. The guys who play the potential fathers, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgard, aren’t the best singers, but Skarsgard seems to embrace the silliness of it all.

The movie is packed with ABBA songs, and some of the supporting actors, like Christine Baranski and Julie Walters, have standout moments.

The director, Phyllida Lloyd, keeps things simple and lets the beautiful Greek islands shine.

“Mamma Mia” might not be the best choice if you hate ABBA’s music, but for everyone else, it’s a joyful and lively musical with catchy songs and great performances by Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried.
