He revealed that he was in the Bahamas to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had attended a burlesque show where he was unexpectedly pulled up on stage.
Beck admitted that he felt nervous being in the spotlight in front of a large crowd, and the host’s remark was simply a humorous moment during the performance.
“I think we were dancing for like a minute up there, a minute right? And there comes a point where I’m trying to, like, slip away, I’m like, ‘get me off this,'” he said. “And she knew that, right? And she said that. And I didn’t think anything about it.”
Beck continued by explaining that he found the video funny and acknowledged that his sexuality had long been a topic of discussion among his fans. He clarified, “People were like, ‘Is this a coming-out video?’ And I was like, ‘no, it’s just a funny video.'”
When asked directly if he was coming out, Beck firmly stated, “No.”
He went on to discuss his upbringing, growing up with two sisters and in a female-dominated household, and how he’s comfortable being in touch with his feminine side.
Beck also addressed the assertive beliefs of some fans regarding his sexuality, saying, “They’re like ‘Oh no, there’s no way he’s not,’ and I’m like, ‘what’s even the point of saying anything?'”
Beck further expressed his view that social media is enabling men to explore their femininity and cited Harry Styles as an example of a male figure who has pushed the boundaries of masculinity.
